South Carolina House members voted Wednesday to bring back the electric chair and introduce the firing squad as methods of execution. After a lengthy debate one that included a clash between Republican abortion opponents who debated whether killing a death row inmate was the same as ending a pregnancy lawmakers voted 66-43 to give the bill second reading. The bill, which the House tweaked, now must go back to the Senate to see if the chamber agrees. If the Senate agrees, the bill will go to the governor, who has vowed to sign it into law.

(WMBF) - A bill that would help first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) is closer to becoming law in South Carolina. Unlike a physical injury, mental illnesses or mental injuries are not covered under workers’ compensation. House bill 3939 will allow first responders like firefighters and law enforcement to receive workers compensation if diagnosed with a stress-related and mental illness caused by a traumatic event while on duty.

York St., shortly before 4 a.m., the police report said. The police labeled the incident a possible liquor license violation and said the case will be investigated. According to Fitz s Facebook page, the bar is scheduled to close at 2 a.m. on Sundays. On Saturday night, Tommy Pope was scheduled to perform.
