HUBBARD TOWNSHIP Despite the lifting of the state’s curfew, Ohio agents are continuing their crackdown on liquor establishments for not following other public health orders put in place by Gov. Mike DeWine’s office. New Manhattan, Inc. known as New Manhattan, 7262 Hubbard Masury Road, was cited earlier this week by the Ohio Investigative Unit on a charge of improper conduct-disorderly activity. According to a news release from the OIU, agents “observed approximately 100 patrons inside the overcrowded establishment. There were no social distancing measures in place and patrons were intermingling with other social groups throughout the premises.” Al McClung, owner of The New Manhattan said “From the beginning of all these lockdowns, our only priority was to keep our employees in a paycheck, so they could feed their families. Staff report BOARDMAN Quench Bar, located on Market Street in Boardman across from St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, has been cited by the Ohio Investigative Unit of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for violating public health orders. According to a press release, the establishment received a citation for improper conduct-disorderly activity stemming from a case being handled by the Boardman Police Department on Jan. 10. Officers observed approximately 15 people consuming alcohol inside the bar after 11:30 p.m., exceeding the current 10 p.m. statewide curfew mandating restaurants and bars be closed no later than 10 p.m. because of the pandemic. Next, the case will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for possible penalties, which may include fines as well as a suspension or revocation of standing liquor permits at the bar.

OIU agents found 25 customers drinking and congregating in the business upon their 10:30 p.m. arrival, a release said.

Agents and Parma Heights police went to the Tavern on 42 shortly after midnight Saturday after they received a call about a curfew violation. Officials walked in and saw eight to 10 people in the bar with most of them drinking alcohol after the 10 p.m. curfew.
