The first came from Danbury Mayor Joe Cavo who announced he d finish out his term and not seek election in the fall. The second came from Dean Esposito, the current Chief of Staff to the Mayor, who announced that he would run for election as a Republican candidate.
Dean has a wealth of experience in public service and has a recognizable name in the Hat City, but we most wanted to know
why he wants the job. Esposito was a guest on the Ethan and Lou Show on Friday, and we asked him that question. Here is how he responded:

Big night in Danbury, you re rolling out the first budget of your administration. That s right, it s the first budget I ve presented and we ll be unveiling it tonight (Tuesday) before the City Council. We also have a few other large items on the agenda, one of them being a proposed bond for the Career Academy which is the school we are hoping to build over at the Summit. It s a great program and under Mayor Boughton s leadership, he managed to get the state to commit to an eighty percent reimbursement of the bonds for that project, which is really on heard of. DANBURY As the mayor seeks to set a budget with no tax increase, the school board is asking for a 9.82 percent rise in education spending.
The board approved with nine in favor and one abstention to send the mayor a $149 million budget proposal that they say is necessary to tackle various challenges, including rising enrollment, and move the district forward.

DANBURY Emergency response on the growing west side of the city is expected to improve as police and ambulance services expand their presence there.
Police plan to improve radio coverage on the west side ahead of officers’ move into a new substation, while an ambulance building was recently constructed on Wooster Heights Road.
