Wizz Air flew almost three million passengers in July as the airline continued to rebuild its network. Carryings rose by 62% from 1.8 million in the same month last year during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Hungarian budget airline raised capacity by a quarter year-on-year to provide more than 3.7 million seats. The load factor also improved  by 18 percentage points to 78.5% over July last year. But annual passenger numbers remain 52% down at 13.5 million against 28.3 million carried in the 12 months to July 2020. However, Wizz Air opened a base at Rome Fiumicino airport last month with four Airbus A321 aircraft, providing 32 new services.
