A state law gave cell phone providers broad access to public rights of way for new cell towers, raising the ire of residents who detest the eyesores

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Robert Gehrke.   | March 14, 2021, 12:00 p.m. It was about a year ago that a friend got an unwelcome surprise when completely without warning an ugly pole was plopped in front of his Salt Lake City home. It was the first 5G wireless tower I remember seeing. Since then, of course, they’ve sprouted up all over town to the frustration of residents who get to look out their window and see what amounts to a giant antenna, placed there without regard for views or neighborhood aesthetics. The problem will only get worse. That’s because while these towers can blast huge amounts of data to your cellphone or wireless devices 100 times the 4G technology they’re replacing they have a limited range with each tower only able to send its signal about 100 meters.

Yamaha Equips Flexible Swiss Training Facility

Yamaha Equips Flexible Swiss Training Facility Switzerland – In January 2021, a new training and conference facility for Mercury Training Group SA opened in Mendrisio, Switzerland. The versatile space is designed to be used as one large room or divided into two or three smaller ones, so a flexible and reliable audio system was needed. Yamaha provided the chosen solution. Led by Frank Merenda, founder of Metodo Merenda (the Merenda Method), Mercury Training Group hosts ‘American style’ training conventions where marketing meets showbusiness. Along with live speech from presenters, video and audio playback are integral parts of the show. Michele and Riccardo De Simone of Sperlonga-based Remix Multimedia SRL were asked by Tiziano Stampete, the head of Mercury’s technical staff, to design an audio system which would maximise the use of the space.

Here s an interactive map showing hundreds of 5G transmitters permitted in Salt Lake City See if one is coming to your neighborhood

| Updated: March 4, 2021, 3:47 p.m. If you live in Salt Lake City, odds are good there’s a 5G transmitter coming to a pole near you. The new small cell wireless technology is stoking the ire of homeowners. Some didn’t realize a pole was planned for the right-of-way in front of their home until they saw a brief notice in the newspaper, or when contractors for the wireless companies showed up to start construction. The Salt Lake Tribune searched the permits reviewed by the City Engineering Department to date and used the data to create an interactive map. But there’s a big caveat there are at least 300 “preliminary” planned small cells, which the city says are not available with a public records search.
