Where exactly the Caribbean region begins and ends is somewhat flexible, with political, cultural and musical ties extended beyond the range of the Caribbean Sea. Cuban composer Tania León captures all the energy of Afro-Cuban percussion and vocal techniques in her work Batéy. Any journey to the Caribbean highlights the cultural diversity of the region, with a plethora of different languages mingling in the streets.
