An official from a bitcoin mining operation told Washington County commissioners Monday his company is working to find a solution to noise issues at its facility in the Limestone community.
Todd Napier, who represents Red Dog Technologies, said his company is taking âvery seriouslyâ the complaints of the noise coming from the computers and cooling fans used in its cyber-mining operation.
âIt is our companyâs culture and desire to be a good neighbor,â said Napier, who also told commissioners his company has no plans to expand its current operations until the noise issues are abated.
Likewise, Jeff Dykes, the CEO of BrightRidge, said his utility has no plans to get involved in any additional bitcoin mining sites until the noise issues are remedied.
The Washington County Election Commission has decided to remain on the third floor of the Washington County Courthouse.
Election commissioners voted unanimously Friday to ask county commissioners to designate funds that would have gone to remodel office space in George P. Jaynes Justice Center to instead be used to pay for specific security upgrades to their current location in the historic downtown Jonesborough courthouse.
âI just want the public to know that regardless of where we are, our staff will conduct a fair and open election,â Election Commission Chairman Gary McAllister said following the vote.
Election Commissioner C. B. Kinch made the motion to remain in the courthouse, which he said is a temporary solution to their office needs.

Two Cleveland County commissioners approved themselves as officers on an account from which millions in federal relief money will be spent in the coming year, sidelining a third commissioner who was left off the account.
At least $55 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds will be allocated as commissioners prioritize how to spend it, The Transcript has reported.
District 1 Rod Clevelandâs name did not appear on Mondayâs agenda item designating fellow commissioners chair Darry Stacy and vice chair Harold Haralson as requitions officers on the fund. The fund will have separate requesting officers and receiving officers to manage it.
