Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is directing the Texas Rangers to investigate allegations of potentially illegal behavior by Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) staff members.
In a letter to the Texas Department of Public Safety Monday, Abbott said the TJJD s Inspector General s Office and the TJJD Independent Ombudsmen have reported multiple allegations of potentially illegal behavior from certain staff members.

A 16 year veteran at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center has been fired and arrested after allegations of sexual abuse to a child arose.
According to a press release from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, Todd Hanks, 50, was arrested June 29 for charges of improper sexual activity with a person in custody and indecency with a child.
Hanks, who worked as a youth development coach, was reported by a fellow coworker in the morning, and was immediately removed from having contact with youth. At first Hanks was suspended without pay, but then officers from TTJD s Office of the Inspector General interviewed Hanks and terminated his employment.

EDINBURG, Texas - A Texas Juvenile Justice Department employee has been arrested on charges related to indecency with a child.
50-year-old Todd Hanks was a youth development coach at Evins Regional Juvenile Center in Edinburg and had been part of the TJJD since 2005.

Hanks has been charged with improper sexual activity with a person in custody and indecency with a child. He has been booked into the Hidalgo County Jail.
An employee made an allegation against Hanks on Tuesday and TJJD says that he was immediately removed from having any contact with youth and suspended without pay. After an interview with officers from TJJD s Office of the Inspector General, Hanks was immediately fired.

An employee at the Evins Regional Juvenile Detention Center was fired and arrested after allegations surfaced of improper sexual activity with a person in custody.
Todd Hanks, 50, joined the Texas Juvenile Justice Department in 2005 and worked as a youth development coach according to a news release. An employee made an allegation against Hanks, leading to him being suspended without pay before he was fired and arrested Thursday evening.
