Thought to be recession-proof, carnival industry hopes for return of crowded fairs
Lloyd Sowers reports
GIBSONTON, Fla. - The annual International Showman’s trade show, put on by the Gibsonton-based International Showman’s Association in southern Hillsborough County, was almost decimated this year by COVID-19, according to its organizer, Lee Stevens.
It s usually slides, rides, and smiles as far as you can see, but they re fewer and further between in 2021.
The carnival industry is said to be recession-proof, so there are still all kinds of carnival rides, games, and equipment for sale in the event s 52nd year. Now we find out it s not virus-proof, offered Todd Kunz of Galaxy Amusement and Sales.
Do stimulus payments affect your taxes?
Todd Kunz
AMMON, Idaho (KXPI/KIFI) - You probably got a stimulus payment in 2020 and possibly another one in January 2021 or you re still waiting on it. Did you know, not everyone gets one? What about your taxes? How does a stimulus payment work when it comes to file?
A lot of questions.
News anchor Todd Kunz talked with Dayton Robison, a certified public accountant with Taylor Robison & Company PLLC, to get the answers. It is a stimulus check. So they want to stimulate the economy, said Robison.
They, meaning the government. They want you to spend your stimulus and put it right back in the economic system.
Local legislator emails governor asking to negotiate impeachment effort
BOISE, Idaho (KXPI/KIFI) - State Representative Chad Christensen of Ammon, sent an email to Republican Governor Brad Little Wednesday, informing the governor of a newly-arising effort to impeach him.
Rep. Christensen said in an earlier interview with news anchor Todd Kunz, that the proposed bill was actually written by another unidentified legislator last summer during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the state shutdown orders issued by Governor Little. The impeachment proposal centers around those orders, in which Christensen said were Unconstitutional.
Christensen noted four areas where he alleges the governor violated Constitutional rights: public gatherings, a right to worship, shutting down businesses which he cited a contract interference clause for businesses, and appropriating funding. Christensen said the power of appropriating funds lies with the legislature, not the governor.
