PIERRE – Pierre couldn’t hold a 16-point lead Saturday in the boys basketball home opener at the Riggs High gym and fell to Watertown 59-58 when the Arrows’ Drew Norberg hit the winning three-pointer just before the final buzzer.
The Governors (0-2) led 46-30 in the third quarter before Watertown rallied. Lincoln Kienholz led Pierre with 14 points and hit a three-pointer. Jackson Edman scored 11 with seven rebounds and three blocks. Matthew Hanson and Houston Lunde each scored eight. Hanson hit two go-ahead free throws after being fouled with 5.4 seconds left to break a 56-56 tie. Lunde hit two three-pointers.
