Dawson Julia, a prominent medical marijuana caregiver, is showing a few signs of improvement following a horrific accident in the Bahamas earlier this month.
Julia suffered significant injuries including brain damage, after a moped accident while on vacation.
He remains on a respirator in critical condition at a Miami hospital but is responding to some commands from doctors and family.
A GoFundMe account has raised more than $200,000 to help cover medical expenses, including a $350,000 dollars charge to life flight him from the Bahamas to Florida.

Dawson Julia, a medical cannabis provider in Unity, head of the Maine Cannabis Coalition and one of the first in the state to open a medical cannabis “caregiver” store, is “fighting for his life” in a Miami hospital, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser started by his sister-in-law, Jennifer Nyman-Julia.

A group of medical cannabis providers is not giving up its fight to keep out-of-state interests away from Maine’s growing adult-use marijuana market.
In August, the Maine Superior Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by United Cannabis Patients and Caregivers of Maine that would have required the state to enforce a residency requirement that the state attorney general had decided is likely unconstitutional.
