2 Thefts in Newport 25 year old Alexas Bailey called Newport police to her apartment on Dykes Street in Newport. She told police that a friend of hers, Dustin James had come into her apartment while she was sleeping and stole around $300 in cash. James has denied stealing the money and no arrests have been made in that case. Thursday afternoon Newport police responded to a call at the Econolodge motel from 49 year old Doug Green who told the officer that he had returned to the motel after working at around 7:30 yesterday and had parked his 1986 gray Chevy S-10 pickup on the west side side of the motel. At 1pm yesterday he noticed that the vehicle was missing. Tags on that vehicle are from Tennessee…plate number 7U54K9. That is a gray 1986 Chevy S-10 pickup. If you see that vehicle you should call the Newport Police department.

(AP) Authorities were searching Monday for a man who hit a California police officer and a firefighter with his car after he was found passed out in a Walmart parking lot. Firefighters responding last Wednesday afternoon in Delano north of Bakersfield discovered the man asleep in a green 1998 Dodge Neon with Washington state plates, KBAK-TV reported Monday. When police arrived, the man woke up and reversed his car, striking an officer and firefighter, and dragging the firefighter in the process, the news station said. The Dodge then struck a parked police car before speeding away.
