Tom Page: It s a tribute to veterans that I ve known and loved and that we ve known and loved. Both of us are sons of Vietnam veterans. I was having a taco over at what is now El Patio at Central and Topeka. You may notice that there s a big red 6 in the parking lot there. At one time, that was Bill s Big 6 Burgers. Bill was a Bataan Death March survivor, and he had kind of a shrine to his group of veteran buddies in there. He would talk about it. If you asked him questions, he would tell you all kinds of things.

Downtown Live! releases 2021 summer lineup

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Summer lineup for Sioux City s Downtown Live concert series has been announced. Organizers say it will consist of seven concerts throughout the summer. They get underway on June 18 with the Rex Granite Band. Organizers say they re excited to hold the concerts after the cancellations in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are absolutely excited that we are back, last year really to be, point-blank, stunk because there was nothing going on in downtown Sioux City all summer long, and we really, really missed it, said Brent Stockton, a member of the planning committee for Downtown Live. I might have missed it more than anyone. But anyway, we are thrilled to be back, and we got a great lineup for you.

• Dec 14, 2020 The archival and reissue market continues to flourish and 2020 offered a number of riches in that department, including retrospective sets from Minneapolis’ Prince and The Replacements as both issued archival sets looking back at albums from 1987. Prince’s Sign O’ The Times not only demonstrated that the original album has held up remarkably well but that the Purple One had plenty of strong material floating around at the time of the record’s release. Moreover, we get to hear what a remarkable live performer he was on this new set. The Replacements’ sole effort as a trio, Please To Meet Me, is back in expanded form as well with plenty of demos, including the band’s final recordings with original guitarist Bob Stinson from the summer of 1986.
