The wet down is a tradition that brings so many people to Birkdale that it often becomes hard to park, department spokesman Bill Suthard told the Observer on Monday. It happened around 9 a.m. on Trail Road near Townley Road when a car rolled off the road into a shallow creek. One woman in the car was unable to get out on her own.
