GREENFIELD A Turners Falls man who was arrested after allegedly beating a man for five hours while interrogating him over alleged stolen marijuana pleaded not guilty Thursday and is being held without the right to bail pending an Aug. 6 dangerousness hearing.
Miguel D. Russell, 22, was arraigned in Greenfield District Court on charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, intimidation of a witness/juror/police/court official and larceny under $1,200.

11:34 a.m. Walgreens employee reporting the pharmacy received a fraudulent prescription via fax. The Walgreens in Greenfield also received one from the same person for the same prescription. Officer Nathan Pervere will follow up with a detective. Employee reporting a man just came in and tried to pick up the fake prescription. When asked for ID, the man turned and walked away. He got into the passenger side of a smaller white Honda sedan with New York plates and headed north on Avenue A. BOLO given to Shelburne Control.
