Police are seeking public assistance after an elderly man was assaulted in Sunnybank last night.
Between 6.45pm and 7.10pm, the 77-year-old man was walking on Turton Street near Troughton Road, outside the school.
He was approached by a man with a dark complexion who grabbed him from behind and pushed or hit the victim to the ground. The man grabbed the victim’s carry bag containing his wallet, passport and cash and was last seen walking south on Troughton Road.
The victim was transported to the QEII Hospital where he remains as a precaution for head injuries.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who travelled on Troughton Road or Turton Street last night between 6.45pm and 7.30pm and witnessed either man or has relevant dashcam vision to contact police.
