These were the horrific injuries suffered by a 37-year-old man attacked as he walked to work, with a level of violence described as frankly obscene by police. The victim was savagely assaulted near to Firbeck in Skelmersale, but managed to stagger down the street to Ferndale, Birch Green, a third of a mile away.
Here, he collapsed, at 7.30am, last Sunday.
Disturbing image shows frankly obscene level of violence inflicted on man during horrific assault Detectives investigating a serious assault have released an image of the man attacked as they continue to appeal for information. Police were called at about 7.30am on Sunday following a report that a man had been found with serious injuries near Ferndale, Birch Green in Skelmersdale. The man, 37, had been making his way to work before being targeted, and was taken to Aintree Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. An investigation was launched and enquiries are continuing to identify the offenders, with detectives believing the incident took place close to Firbeck.
