This year the programme has been cut back due to the Covid-19 pandemic however once it is safe to travel again the programme will resume in full. This is according to MEP Deirdre Clune who is a Member of the European Parliament’s Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee. MEP Clune is urging people not to be afraid to challenge vaccine disinformation or the spread of it – even among family or friends MEP Clune said: “The vaccine will help return some sort of normality to our daily lives by next summer however in order for such a vaccination programme to be successful people must be willing to get vaccinated.”

Dementia numbers will double by year 2050 – warns Cork MEP

Cork based MEP Deirdre Clune is a Vice-Chair of the European Alzheimer’s Alliance Dementia and Alzheimer care must be recognised as a public health priority, according to MEP Deirdre Clune. MEP Clune said measures are being considered at the EU to help to improve the care of people with dementia through early diagnosis, comprehensive treatment and support for caregivers. Given the current health crisis, it is imperative we don’t neglect aspects of health care such as dementia diagnosis, according to MEP Clune. Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune participated in a workshop organised by Alzheimer Europe. MEP Clune is a Vice-Chair of the European Alzheimer’s Alliance.
