THE chief suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is set to be charged over a horror rape of an Irish woman almost 17 years ago.
Hazel Behan, 37, was working as a holiday rep on the Algarve in Portugal in June 2004 when she suffered a violent assault just two weeks before her 21st birthday.

Christian Brueckner – who was last year named as the prime suspect in Maddie’s 2007 disappearance – is also suspected of raping Ms Behan and could be charged by German federal police within three months.

One-in-five violent sex crimes are carried out by children against other children, according to new statistics.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that 20% of all sexual violence crimes detected by Gardaí in 2019 involved juvenile victims and offenders.
