Gary Opitz Today we welcome back to the studio our astronomers: Bob Berman and Valerie Rapson! They are here to answer your questions about the moon, the sun and everything else in our solar system! WAMC s Ray Graf hosts. One of the best-known and most widely-read astronomers in the world, Bob is the astronomy editor for the Old Farmer’s Almanac and a contributing editor at Astronomy Magazine. Doctor Valerie Rapson earned her Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences and Technology from RIT. Her research focused on the structure and composition of planet-forming disks around nearby young stars. Dr. Rapson spent 5 years developing and teaching astronomy education programs for the Dudley Observatory, and is now an Assistant Professor in the Physics and Astronomy department at SUNY Oneonta.

Don Rittner Another removal of Albany history hits the road By Don Rittner on December 6, 2013 at 2:07 PM   by Don Rittner   My first history/archeology project back in 1972 was relocating and preserving the Kings’s Highway, the first road between the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys that connected Albany (Fort Orange) to Skenectada (Schenectady). I took up the unfinished work of Schenectady City Historian William Efner who began this project back in the 1930s. Fortunately I was able to save a mile long section of the original sandy road when Mayor Corning purchased the first city Pine Bush Preserve back in the late 70s at my request.
