A taxi commuter arrested in possession of drugs in the Northern Cape is expected to appear before court on Monday.
The suspect, who was travelling from Kimberley to Douglas, was arrested in possession of 150 units of Mandrax tablets after the police received a tip-off.
Police spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, says the taxi was pulled off and upon searching commuters, the suspect was allegedly found with the drugs. The 24-year-old suspect will appear before the Douglas Magistrate s Court on a count of possession of Mandrax.
The Northern Cape Police Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner, Reggie Motabogi, has meanwhile commended the police for the arrest and sent a stern warning against acts of crime.

JOHANNESBURG - Police in Kimberely arrested a 50-year-old man after illicit alcohol worth R10 million was found in his home.
A week-long surveillance operation in Southnay Street in Douglas by a collective team comprising of Provincial Organised Crime, Kimberley SAPS Designated police officials, Security Intelligence and the South African Liquor Board resulted in the find on Friday.

Illicit liquor valued at R10 million was seized by police during a raid on a Douglas house in the Northern Cape on Friday 9 April.
The imported alcohol came through the borders of South Africa illegally, explained police spokesperson Colonel Mashay Gamieldien.
A 50-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of illicit alcohol.
He was further charged for attempting to bribe a police official after he allegedly offered the police R170 000 to turn a blind eye.
After the cash was counted, it was seized as evidence, said Gamieldien.
