ELKTON, Ore. The Douglas Protective Fire Association is responding to a brush fire burning south of Elkton.
The fire started around 9 p.m. Tuesday and grew to about 40 acres. No evacuations have been ordered at this time. One official said the fire is burning on a steep hillside of Mehl Creek Road, making it hard for crews to get a handle on the blaze. More crews have been ordered to help out.
The Douglas Protective Fire Association is asking the public to stay away from the area so they re not in the way of firefighting efforts.
