Medford puts CPA funds towards Thomas Brooks Farm, Pomp s Wall

The Medford City Council tentatively approved appropriations for the Community Preservation Commission to implement early phases of a Master Plan for Thomas Brooks Farm at a Jan. 26 meeting. A formal vote will take place Feb. 2 because the item was not on the official agenda for Jan. 26. The matter was discussed during a Committee of the Whole meeting and spilled into the formal council meeting at 7 p.m. Members are amenable to the request for $200,000 restoration of a 1,000 foot Field Stone Wall; $50,000 for restoration of the red-brick Pomp’s Wall or the Old Slave Wall and $50,000 for an archeological dig on the site, which the Historical Commission’s Project Overview describes as a “six acre wooded landscape bordered by the Lowell Branch of the MBTA Commuter Rail tracks. And then the coronavirus crisis struck and the country went into lockdown.
