BURNLEY Football Club’s inclusion programme has received a Parliamentary seal of approval following a high-profile visit to Turf Moor. Minister for Disabled People, Justin Tomlinson, visited the stadium on Friday and toured the club’s new accessible stands. Mr Tomlinson, who was accompanied by Burnley MP Anthony Higginbotham, was also briefed on the charities’ disability sports project, which has helped to deliver life-changing opportunities to disabled young people and adults across Burnley by providing young disabled people and adults across Burnley with the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from sport and other positive activities.

An express Covid-19 screening centre has opened offering test results within 24 hours. The centre, which is operated by ExpressTest in partnership with Burnley FC, is charging people £99 for a Covid-test and claims to have results ready the following day. Head of operations at Burnley FC, Doug Metcalfe, said: “We’re delighted to be able to partner with ExpressTest and offer a Covid-19 screening service to our local community. We know first hand what a difficult time it’s been for the people of Burnley and surrounding area, and so to be able to provide peace of mind with a test with Christmas around the corner is fantastic.
