Sanford Health could give Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine to 12 to 15-year-olds if CDC OKs it

The Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine for adolescents on Monday.
Sanford is having conversations with schools and other groups for vaccine clinics for the newly approved age group.
The health chain estimates it can vaccinate a few thousand 12-to 15 year-olds per week.
Sanford Health Fargo’s Chief Medical Officer advises schools to continue to follow CDC guidelines.
“At least until the remainder of the school year I think actually there’s still going to be a role for masks, etcetera. I think testing will be with us for a while, obviously. We have improved availability throughout for testing,” Dr. Doug Griffin said.

NORTH DAKOTA North Dakota health officials are concerned about increasing child COVID-19 cases in schools as districts drop mask mandates.
Dr. Doug Griffin, the chief medical officer of Sanford Health in Fargo says they ve only seen one child under 18 in the hospital with COVID-19 since the start of this year.
Throughout the state, there is no one under 20 hospitalized today. In North Dakota, there have been nearly 10,500 cases of COVID-19 in people under the age of 19 since the pandemic began.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) Plenty of vaccines are readily available, yet hesitancy is still a concern a local health expert tells us.
As the Johnson and Johnson vaccine makes its way back from a temporary setback, Sanford Health is using the limited doses on hand for people who may find it harder getting vaccinated.
“Right now we have very limited supply of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. If you recall before there was a pause also there was somewhat of a delay in the manufacturing issue in getting supplies out. So, we’re not offering Johnson and Johnson at the vaccination center. We are doing some patients upon discharge to other places like the homeless shelter.
