The Grand View Vikings are 6-0 this season and played three games against Heart of America Conference opponents. The Vikings are rated no. 2 in the nation and are coached by Joe Woodley. The Vikings have played football since 2008 and have one losing record in that span a 2008 mark of 2-8. Grand View won the national title in 2013 with a 14-0 record and have qualified for the semifinals twice in 2014 and 2019. This is the eight straight playoff appearance for Grand View and its ninth overall.
This year’s edition of the Vikings last played on November 21 against Culver Stockton and secured a 44-28 win. The 16-point margin of victory was the slimmest of the year for Grand View and the Des Moines based school has outscored teams 302-55 this year or 50-9 on average.
JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown baseball team dominated Dakota Wesleyan on both Saturday and Sunday and capped off the weekend with an 8-0 win at Jack Brown Stadium.
Kendall Yackley pitched the best game of the weekend for the Jimmies, going seven innings and striking out eight Tiger batters. Yackley improved to 3-0 on the year and threw 101 total pitches while allowing just five hits.
Luke Shekeryk got Jamestown going in the first inning with a two-run blast over the left field wall to put the Jimmies ahead 3-0. Shekeryk finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs driven in and a run scored. Lincoln Trujillo also hit a two-run homer over the left-field wall as well for his fifth home run of the year.

Dustin Mertz – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’1″ – Freshman – catcher/utility – West Fargo, N.D. – Mertz smashed a home run in five of Valley City State’s (N.D.) six games as they went 4-2 record for the week. He posted a batting average of .579 by going 11-of-19 at the plate. He registered an on-base percentage of .692 and a 1.474 slugging percentage. For the week, Mertz scored 13 runs, drove in 11 runs, reached on base by a walk six times, and hit two doubles. He also swiped two bases.

Seventeen Jimmie batters went to bat, with 13 of them scoring on 12 hits, two walks, and an error against three Concordia-Moorhead pitchers, resulting in an 18-13 win over the Cobbers.
UJ hit five home runs in the frame, including a solo home run by Luke Shekeryk (JR/Seattle, WA) to lead off the inning. After Dylan Dudley (JR/Cottage Grove, OR) singled and Matt Meraz (SR/Aurora, CO) walked, Brice Foster (SR/Lynnwood, WA) smashed a three-run homer to cut the deficit to 12-10. On the very next pitch, Tayler Cullen (JR/Santa Rosa, Calif.) homered over the left field fence to make it 12-11 and chase reliever Nathan Leitner. Pinch-hitter Michael Asahara (SO/Spanaway, Wash.) greeted new Cobber pitcher Justin Kloster with a single, then Kendall Yackley (SO/Lynnwood, WA) doubled to put runners at second
