There was no mistaking that last year’s COVID-19-altered drive-in graduation ceremony was a hit amongst students and families, but tradition is tradition, and this year students and school leaders decided a formal graduation ceremony at Veterans Memorial Stadium is the right course of action.
However, that doesn’t mean the best of the 2020 drive-in ceremony cannot be culled and implemented as part of the graduation experience, Supt. Priya Tahiliani said.
Tahiliani announced officially on Monday that a traditional graduation ceremony would return on the evening of June 9 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium, where it typically has been held until last year’s COVID-19 surge forced the district to improvise with what turned out to be a fun drive-thru ceremony.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A group of Pioneer Valley High School Students worked with Vaqueras Taco Truck to raise $1400 for the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center.
A portion of sales from the mobile restaurant parked on the 900 block of North Broadway in Santa Maria Monday night are going to the non-profit.
The PVHS SHARe Club (Safe, Healthy, Adolescent Relationships) organized the event. I believe the fundraiser was for a very good cause, said SHARe Vice President Idalia Bucio. “We did something good for our community, not just for ourselves.’’

Isn t it crazy that you can live somewhere for years and years and never experience it all. Even in a small area like Tri-Cities, a person can live here all their life and never visit every restaurant. That s because people like what they know. And if you don t branch out and try new things, you ll never find a new favorite.

Small restaurants need your support to make it through the pandemic.

Wait, that s me! I gotta spread the word about the YAKIMA TACO FEST!
If you have never been to this event before, here s what basically happens: You buy a ticket, they give you a wristband and some food truck and drink ticket script, and then you walk around until you find a taco truck you like and stand in line (could be for hours, just saying) to buy samples of a delicious variety of tacos.
