And to make the shape of a heart come outright, you would fold the red paper in half and scissor it just right. Sometimes it came out heart-shaped. A carefully scribbled “I love you” or “Be my Valentine” finished it. The boys addressed theirs to a secret girl, and as for the girls, I never did find out what they did as I never got one!

Ruth Brownridge was presented with a $5,000 cheque from Mandy and Jeff Dubois of McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel before a $2,500 donation from Doug Thompson of Portage Toyota & RV was made to Dufferin Villa.
