Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State said the demise of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen.  Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro (Rtd) is a lost to the state and the nation, adding that the country has lost “a patriotic and loyal Nigerian who served with courage, dignity and selflessness”. The Governor also expressed deep shock over the death of the retired military officer, who died at the age of 80. Our correspondent reports that Gen. Dogonyaro died at the early hours of Thursday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted after a brief illness. His remains have been deposited at Airforce Hospital in Jos, State Capital.

General Joshua Dogonyaro is dead

He died at the age of 80 Joseph, first son of the deceased disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an telephone interview in Pankshin on Thursday. “Daddy has been sick for some time until yesterday when he had a stroke and we rushed him to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical attention. “Unfortunately, early this morning (Thursday), around 3.00am precisely, he breathed his last. “His death comes as a rude shock to us as a family. We are going to miss his love and warm as a grandfather, father, brother, uncle and supporter,” he said.
