(Rtd) is a lost to the state and the nation, adding that the country has lost “a patriotic and loyal Nigerian who served with courage, dignity and selflessness”.
The Governor also expressed deep shock over the death of the retired military officer, who died at the age of 80.
Our correspondent reports that Gen. Dogonyaro died at the early hours of Thursday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted after a brief illness.
His remains have been deposited at Airforce Hospital in Jos, State Capital.

Lalong while reacting to the death through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Simon Macham, said “Plateau State and the nation had lost a patriotic and loyal Nigerian who served with courage, dignity and selflessness.

Joseph, first son of the deceased disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an telephone interview in Pankshin on Thursday.
“Daddy has been sick for some time until yesterday when he had a stroke and we rushed him to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical attention.
“Unfortunately, early this morning (Thursday), around 3.00am precisely, he breathed his last.
“His death comes as a rude shock to us as a family. We are going to miss his love and warm as a grandfather, father, brother, uncle and supporter,” he said.

He died on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Plateau State, from an undisclosed ailment. His remains have been deposited at the Airforce Hospital in Jos. Born in Vom, Plateau state, Dogonyaro attended Boys’ Secondary School, Gindiri. Between 1964 to 1967, he attended the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna. He took courses at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji; Armour Officers Course, US; Armoured Car Troop Leaders Course, UK; Command and Staff College, Jaji; Defence Resources Management Course, US; and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
