Unlike typical artist and film score/soundtrack collaborations, 21 Savageâs meticulous approach to crafting the soundscape for this movie makes his involvement quite unique. He based all his musical and producer decisions around specific triggers from the film, which he spent significant time with prior to its release; combing through the score as a library of samples to be shaped into the music for the soundtrack, which makes this a truly authentic collaboration.  âWhen I make albums, the visuals come after the music is done. But on this movie, the visuals come first,â says the Grammy winner. âIt was different, making something based on a visual, trying to bring the visuals to life in music.â

theGrio caught up with Rock to find out how he handled coming into such a popular franchise.
“It’s a lot of pressure to jump into something with such a strong following because, you know, it works without you and you don’t want to be the reason it fails at all, you know what I mean?” Rock said. “First of all, you’re grateful that they let you play because they don’t need you.
Fargo didn’t need me.
Spiral didn’t need me, but luckily they let me come along, and hopefully, I added something that was missing.”

The ninth film in the horror series, Spiral will be branching off from the larger Saw storyline in a time long after the Jigsaw killer has been dead and a new copycat has arrived unleashing a twisted form of justice. To really set things apart from the previous movies though is the cast, which this time around features Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock, who also co-wrote the story for the new film.
