IT WAS BILLED as the final trial, which immediately draws up images of packed courtrooms, but in reality all it gave us was an empty Lansdowne Road. There a motley crew with ambitions of playing for Ireland in the Five Nations battled it out, one team called the Probables, the other the Possibles.

Northampton s Tom Wood has been suspended for three weeks
Northampton Saints flanker Tom Wood has been handed a three-week suspension for a dangerous clear-out of Leinster s Josh Van der Flier in Saturday s Champions Cup clash at the RDS.
French referee Pierre Brousset did not feel the incident warranted a red card but citing commissioner John Montgomery took a different view after the match, which Leinster won 35-19.
In the 69th minute, Wood arrived to clear-out a ruck, making contact with the Leinster flanker s head in the process.
At today s online hearing, Wood pled guilty to the offence and was suspended for three weeks.
There was a real sense of occasion at Dargle Valley Nursing Home in Enniskerry last week, for the 100th birthday of Dorothy Dorrie Trueman.
Her two children, Heather and Philip, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren are extremely grateful to Nicola Kirk and all the staff for going to great lengths to arrange such a special visit with every precaution in place.
Some of the Dargle Valley staff members came in on their day off especially to see the birthday girl.
Dorothy s granddaughter Nikki Fry of Kilcoole is principal of St Francis National School in Newcastle, where she teaches fifth and sixth classes. The pupils were among those to send cards and messages to Mrs Trueman to mark the special occasion.
