Former Justgo Supermarket employee falls off ladder, sues for $1M

HOUSTON A former Justgo Supermarket worker who fell off a ladder and suffered injuries that left him incapacitated is claiming the company s negligence.  Carlos Gutierrez filed a complaint May 3 in Harris County District Court against Justgo Group Inc.m and SL & FCS LLC alleging negligence.  Gutierrez was working at the Justgo Supermarket on Highway 6 in Sugar Land on Jan. 2, 2020, according to his complaint. He claims that while he was on a ladder stocking the store shelves, the ladder was not properly secured which caused him to fall many feet to the ground. Gutierrez alleges he suffered severe injuries that left him incapacitated and that the defendants were negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout for his safety. He further alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to provide him with proper safety equipment, failing to properly train its employees and failed to implement and enforce proper safety procedures and policies.

Zionsville Mayor Asks Court to Let Her Oust Fire Chief

Zionsville Mayor Asks Court to Let Her Oust Fire Chief (ZIONSVILLE, Ind.) A fight over the future of Zionsville’s fire chief is spilling into court. Mayor Emily Styron wants to replace Chief James VanGorder. But the reorganization plan which gave Zionsville a mayor seven years ago says firing a department head requires town council approval. The council unanimously refused, so Styron has placed VanGorder on leave for a week, and is reassigning his duties. She’s also asking a judge to say the council veto power goes against state law. Council president Josh Garrett calls the suit a waste of time and tax dollars. He argues the reorganization plan was reviewed and upheld by the Indiana Supreme Court. And he says it’s frustrating that all sides spent nine months going through the prescribed process, only for Styron to try to act on her own when the vote went against her.
