Live music for a pandemic lockdown

Article content I miss live music, so recently I’ve been rediscovering a few of my favourite live recordings and imagining myself going to concerts from the comfort of my couch. If I must find the proverbial glass-half-full then I suppose it would be the convenience and solace of watching a concert in my living room without plodding through slushy February streets, along with the simplicity of grabbing a beverage from my fridge and the lack of lineups at the washrooms. That said, there is a magic to live performance that more than makes up for the inconveniences. After nearly a year without live shows, I would be delighted to hear the Skydiggers or Rheostatics at the Horseshoe, my feet sticking to the spilled-beer floors and the stink of decades of smoke saturating the walls. I miss the feeling of a kick-drum pounding through speakers like a punch to the gut, the energy of like-minded music lovers gathered together and the spontaneous joy of a band following their muse.
