A report in The Guardian disclosed that recent investigations have found absenteeism rampant among government workers throughout Italy. Police recently caught 35 workers, for example, who had been cheating the system at Sanremo’s town hall for at least two years. The champ, however, was a hospital worker dubbed “King of Absentees” who recently retired after skipping work for 15 years. (What? I’m s’posed to show up?)
We may be tiring of Zoom calls, but not the Czech chimpanzees at Safari Park Dvur Kralove and the zoo in Brno, 150 miles away. Staff members have set up giant screens at both locations to allow the chimps to watch and interact with each other as a substitute for visiting humans. They reacted with defensive and threatening gestures at first, but have settled into behaviors just like humans watching TV. (Pass the chips, please.)

A Las Vegas couple’s backyard turned into the site of an archeological dig when construction workers found the skeleton of a horse thought to be from the most recent Ice Age.
Matthew Perkins’ plans to build a pool were put on hold last week after the workers found bones buried about five feet deep and alerted police. Perkins and his husband found out about the discovery only after the police arrived, he told CNN, but their investigation took only minutes.

Nothing kills some fun in the sun like skeletons.
A married couple in Las Vegas were in the middle of having a pool installed behind their newly built house when the local police suddenly arrived one morning. Apparently, they had some questions about something the crew working on the pool uncovered.
Workers had found bones buried about five feet deep in the ground, Fox 23 reports. According to Matt Perkins, who recently moved into the house, he woke up one morning last week to see police officers talking to his pool guy.
