Out-of-Contract Players to Learn Whether Club is Taking Up Options
Friday, 15th May 2020 19:42
Town’s soon-to-be out-of-contract players will learn this weekend whether the Blues will be taking up the one-year options of their deals.
Vice-captain Cole Skuse, Gwion Edwards, Danny Rowe, Will Keane and Jordan Roberts are the five players whose terms are up at the end of June.
The Blues have until the third weekend in May to take up their one-year options with news on those decisions expected from the club next week.
However, even if players don’t have their options taken up that won’t necessarily mean they will be leaving the club.
If you follow state politics, you have no doubt heard of crossover day on the legislative calendar. You may see a flurry of legislative news, updates, and emailed explanations of bills, all in the effort to move legislation through one chamber to the next.
If a bill does not “cross over” that marble-tiled, fountain-filled corridor from House to Senate or vice-versa by Thursday, May 13, then the bill is dead for this two-year legislative session.
It is high stakes for lawmakers and lobbyists alike, each monitoring a bevy of bills to see if they get approval from one chamber and survive to be examined by the other.
A pair of bills would ease restrictions on dental care by allowing training hygienists to do routine procedures without the presence of a dentist, particularly at schools.
Hygienists could, for example, administer local anesthetics, under supervision, and perform dental hygiene at schools, without a dentist.
Senate Bill 146 won unanimous approval from senators on March 31. The House version, House Bill 144, passed 113-1 on Thursday, May 6. Rep. Abe Jones, D-Wake, cast the lone dissenting vote.
Lawmakers will now likely decide which bill to use for the final version that will head ultimately to the governor.
The bills are similar, and each includes a provision for teledentistry: in other words, meeting with a patient online to cull data, record symptoms, and make assessments, for example.
Wright Joins Dozzell in Having Option Exercised

Town have taken the one-year option on keeper Harry Wright’s contract, in addition to taking the further season on Andre Dozzell’s deal, as revealed by TWTD earlier today.
Wright, 21, the son of former Blue Richard, is yet to make a first-team appearance but has been on the bench for the senior side.
The one-time Manchester City academy youngster, a regular in the U23s, has missed much of 2019/20 with a knee injury and might otherwise have appeared in the Leasing.com Trophy.
The length of Wright’s contract has been the subject of some confusion due to an error made when it was announced that he had signed his terms in December 2018.
Town Take Up Option on Dozzell s Contract

TWTD understands Town have taken up the one-year option on midfielder Andre Dozzell’s contract.
Dozzell’s terms were up this summer but the deal he signed in May 2017 included an option for the club to keep him for a further season.
The academy product, who turned 21 on Saturday, has been in and out of the side this season making 13 starts and two sub appearances.
Last summer TWTD revealed that Norwich City had made a £3 million approach to the Blues for the England U20 international but were unwilling to meet Town’s asking price, understood to be £5 million. Talks regarding a new Blues contract subsequently took place but with no agreement reached.
