Cllr Brenda Dacres set to be deputy mayor of Lewisham

Mayor Damien Egan with Cllr Brenda Dacres New Cross Councillor Brenda Dacres is set to become the new deputy mayor of Lewisham. Lewisham’s mayor Damien Egan announced his intention to nominate Cllr Dacres for the role today (April 9), along with his intended nomination for a new cabinet member for jobs and skills (job share), Whitefoot Cllr Kim Powell. The nominations will officially be made at the Lewisham Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May 2021. Former Cllr Joe Dromey left his role as cabinet member for jobs and skills after announcing he was leaving the council in January to start at  a full time role at Central London Forward (CLF).

Cllr Joe Dromey steps down from Lewisham Council

Joe Dromey Lewisham’s joint cabinet member for culture, jobs, and skills is stepping down as a councillor.   New Cross Councillor Joe Dromey is leaving the council to take on new role as director of Central London Forward (CLF).  CLF is a partnership of 12 local authorities which aims to drive inclusive growth in the capital.  As it stands its three core policy concerns are helping residents get back into work, improving jobs skills, and increasing the supply of new homes in London.   The role is politically restricted, so Cllr Dromey will be standing down from his cabinet post and resigning as a ward councillor in the spring.
