The jail administration today suspended four officials, including a head constable, after taking cognisance of the incident. The officials were suspended on charges of negligence cited in prima facie investigations.
According to an official statement, the prisoners had escaped after allegedly blinding the guards with pepper powder. The incident was reported around 8:30 pm yesterday following which an FIR has been registered at the Phalodi police station.

As many as 16 prisoners, who were lodged at Phalodi sub-jail in Jodhpur, Rajasthan escaped by throwing chilli powder in the eyes of the guards on Monday night, police said.
