Here, she shares her story with Jodi Bryant. If it wasn t for the slower pace of lockdown a year ago, there s a chance Marama Flay-Alker wouldn t have seen this Mother s Day in with her three young children. But, with a close friend s recent breast cancer journey fresh on her mind, followed by swift yet harrowing action backed by sheer determination, she is here today to tell her story.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Jody Bryant has a master’s degree in education psychology from UT Martin, and she used to have a career in rehabilitation for the blind. She herself then began losing her vision at age 50, and she would eventually lose the ability to drive. Instead of providing Bryant transportation to and from work, her employer fired her. She was out of a job. But she still had a place to go. “At 65 years old, and visually impaired, GCE hired me,” Jody Bryant said. Bryant, 67, has been working at GCE, or Global Connections for Employment Inc., for nearly three years. They provide her a way home from work, too.

Obituary - Michael Benjamin “Mike” Olliff Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory Michael Benjamin “Mike” Olliff, age 73, passed away quietly with his loving children at his side on Friday, January 22nd, 2021, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief hospitalization due to a chronic medical illness.     Mike was born in Metter, Ga., on September 9th, 1947, to the late Mr. James Clifton Olliff and Mrs. Mae Cumming Olliff. He attended school in Statesboro, graduating from Marvin Pittman Laboratory School in 1965 with many honors in athletics, including a scholarship to South Georgia College for basketball.     While attending South Georgia College, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Mike was a Vietnam veteran, having proudly served his country for four years.
