Methodist Health System received a shipment of 1,775 doses of the Pfizer and BioNTech product early Tuesday. It will be distributed to frontline workers, including those at Methodist Hospital, Methodist Womenâs Hospital and Methodist Fremont Health. Methodist planned to begin vaccinating on Wednesday.
âWeâve been waiting for this moment since March,â said Josie Abboud, president and CEO of Methodist and Methodist Womenâs hospitals.
CHI Health had received about 7,000 doses by Tuesday at its Nebraska hospitals, said Dr. Cary Ward, the health systemâs chief medical officer. That includes the 3,900 doses that arrived Monday at Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy. Bryan Health in Lincoln also began vaccinating frontline staff Monday.
System received its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday morning, marking an important milestone in the hospitalâs battle against the virus.
Approximately 1,775 doses of the Pfizer-BionNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Methodist Health System, all of which will be distributed to frontline workers across the systemâs three hospitals, including Methodist Fremont Health.
The doses of the vaccine that arrived in Fremont today represent some of the 15,600 Pfizer vaccines that are expected to arrive across the state by the end of the week.
Paula Danekas, pharmacy service executive at Methodist Hospital, said the process leading up to the vaccines arrival was unlike anything the hospital had done before.
