New top cop Eleazar orders revamp of key PNP posts

In his first week in office, new top cop Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered a revamp of the key positions in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Upon Eleazar’s assumption of his post as PNP chief, Police Lieutenant General Joselito Vera Cruz was promoted to Deputy Chief for Administration, the second highest position in the PNP. Vera Cruz was the Deputy Chief for Operations prior to this.
Police Lieutenant General Israel Ephraim Dickson is the new Deputy Chief for Operations.
Vera Cruz and Dickson belong to the Philippine Military Academy Hinirang Class of 1987, along with Eleazar and retired PNP chief Debold Sinas.

Sinas names Vera Cruz as new JTF COVID Shield commander
Published April 21, 2021 9:23am Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas on Wednesday named Police Lieutenant General Joselito Vera Cruz as the new commander of Joint Task Force COVID Shield. Vera Cruz will replace Police Lieutenant General Cesar Hawthorne Binag, who is set to retire on April 24 and whose designation has been terminated April 20, Tuesday. Effective Tuesday, Vera Cruz was designated as the Deputy Chief for Operations and Task Force Commander of the enforcement arm of the national government in the implementation of quarantine rules and health protocols, the PNP said.

The Philippine National Police on Wednesday said his designation as task force commander was effective Tuesday. He also took over on April 20 as the new deputy chief for operations, the third highest post in the PNP.
