Abu now 4th highest in PNP

MANILA - Lt. Gen. Manuel Abu was named as chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorial Staff, the fourth-highest position in the force. In an order dated May 14 and released on Monday, Abu, former director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO-Northern Luzon) is designated to head the unit. He replaced Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, who acts as officer in charge of the PNP after Gen. Dionardo Carlos retired last May 8. Abu, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Makatao" Class of 1989, will supervise the 11 Directorial Staff in administering functional operations of all National Support Units and Police Regional Offices. 15 private armed groups in Mindanao neutralized: OPAPRU

(Courtesy of OPAPRU) MANILA - The National Task Force for the Disbandment of Private Armed Groups (NTF-DPAGs) has neutralized some 15 private armed groups (PAGs) in Mindanao, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace, Reconciliation and Unity reported on Thursday. In a social media post, the OPAPRU described the latest development as proof that the peacekeepers in Mindanao continue to sustain gains in their efforts within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and other areas in Mindanao. Presidential peace adviser Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said the OPAPRU is committed to continuing to support the efforts of NTF-DPAGs member agencies.
