“This devious strategy to bypass the necessary studies should be put to an end,” said a spokesperson for
Moviment Graffitti. “Developers are making separate applications while hiding behind the names of family members and other associates. This shows how the system itself is fundamentally flawed, undermining any potential for sound planning and resulting in gross planning injustice.”
The development foresees the construction of swimming pools and decking on ODZ land, with the approval of these applications set to present the opportunity for further take-up of fresh land. This new invasion in ODZ land will not only come at the expense of a scenic clifftop, but also set the precedent for the take-up of more green spaces, Graffitti said.

Vella, Marguerite Lucille Sunday, April 11, 2021
Marguerite was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in Murfreesboro, Tn., to the late Raymond and Bessie Sanders. She was the youngest of five children and the last living survivor of her family. As a young girl, her father would take her on the horse and buggy to get ice cream. She was a member of the drama program at school and enjoyed playing basketball in high school.
While working as a waitress, Marguerite met her husband, the late Joseph Vella. They were married for 57 years, 35 of which they spent in the Philippine Islands as missionaries of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. It was during their first term that Marguerite became very ill and the family returned home. She overcame multiple surgeries to regain her health and the family was then able to return to the Philippines several years later.
A documentary exhibition has been set up at Il-Ħaġar museum in Pjazza San Ġorġ, Victoria, on the third anniversary of Mro Joseph Vella’s death.
A Meeting of Minds highlights connections between Professor Joseph Vella and Professor Oliver Friggieri. They worked together on two major oratorios – Il-Belt Rebbieħa op. 50 and Rewwixta op. 54 – first performed in 1990 and 1992 respectively.
Il-Belt Rebbieħa (structured in three distinct parts) honours the city of Vittoriosa and the heroes of the Great Siege.
In fact, it was included in the celebrations for the ninth centenary of Vittoriosa parish. The plot highlights the pivotal role played by Vittoriosa in 1565 and is a tribute to the courage shown by the nation in that fateful and defining event.
