May 10, 2021 (Providence, RI)   The Providence Police Department is investigating a fatal use-of-force incident along with the Rhode Island State Police and Attorney General s Office. Officers responded to a call about a man possibly under the influence and found Joseph Ventre in a park in the city s Hope section overnight Friday. Assistance from the fire department was requested, and the Providence Police Department says due to Ventre s erratic behavior, attempts were made to place him in handcuffs. He was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. photo: Getty Images
