Two Ph.D. students in William & Mary’s Department of Applied Science are recipients of Doctoral Scholars Program Fellowships of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), a program aimed at increasing diversity among college and university STEM faculty.
Tina Naik is a state doctoral scholar, a recipient of a three-year fellowship. First-year Ph.D. student Jordan Hines was accepted as an institute scholar in the SREB program.

It’s a new era for bald eagles in the Chesapeake Bay drainage and the end of an era for a veteran team of eagle researchers.
The A-Team has signed off after 30 years of flying at treetop level along the Bay and its tributaries, counting nesting eagles and their chicks. The three-man team based at William & Mary’s Center for Conservation Biology completed its last flight on April 17, counting chicks in nests up the Chickahominy River. William & Mary has been selected to join a partnership of higher-education institutions that aims to form and build a new discipline that melds public-policy concerns with technological fields.
University President Katherine Rowe has designated Fredric Lederer to serve as William & Mary’s representative to the Public Interest Technology University Network, or PIT-UN. Lederer is Chancellor Professor at the university’s School of Law.
