Herman defeated longtime 2nd Ward Councilman Alford Novak for the Democratic nomination. No Republicans or independent candidates are seeking the seat in November. WARREN Andrew Herman had his children in the car with him as voters went into the Warren YWCA casting votes to determine whether he would win the Democratic nomination to run for the city’s 2nd Ward seat. It was worth the wait as Herman appears to have narrowly won the seat with 51 percent of the vote over longtime Councilman Alford Novak, who received 49 percent of the vote, according to incomplete and unofficial results from the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
