On Saturday, May 8, Pawtucket-based TEN31 Productions will host a magical afternoon at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, 1 Floral Ave. in Providence, with their Wonderland in the Gardens event featuring live-action “Alice in Wonderland” characters based on Sir John Tenniel’s original sketches from the 1865 edition. From 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. people are invited to this family-friendly event to see talking characters including the Chesire Cat, Alice, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, and more.
“It’s going to be a walk-through experience, so you get to enjoy the garden,” Joe Pari, co-founder of TEN31 Productions, told The Breeze. “Many people don’t know there’s a rose maze at the back of the Botanical Center. The Red Queen will be there doting on her roses.” While it will be fun for the children, “it’s still going to be really cool for adults,” Pari said. “The costuming is really beautiful.”

middle school physical education teacher accused of raping a student has been fired as police investigate more than a dozen anonymous tips related to the case, school officials said Tuesday.
John Blake, the varsity boys hockey coach at
Duxbury High School for nearly two decades, was placed on administrative leave in November after a couple alleged that he sexually assaulted their middle school
son in the mid-2000s. The couple, Joseph and Melissa Foley, filed a lawsuit against Blake and the Duxbury school system last week.

A private Facebook group for the tony town of Duxbury hosts some 12,000 users who typically use the platform to share photos of the sun setting over its oyster-filled bay or inquire about the best local lawn services. But now, as the town reels amid alarming allegations about two of its most prominent high school coaches, the tone of the discussion has turned decidedly grim.
