The National Commission for Women has issued notices to activist Yogendra Yadav and BKU president Joginder Singh Ugrahan over reports of sexual assault on an activist, who had travelled from West Bengal to join the farmers’ protest at Tikri border.

Synopsis The National Commission for Women has come across media reports of the sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman at Tikri border, Haryana. It is being alleged that Yogendra Yadav and other protesters of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha were aware of the sexual assault committed upon the girl but unfortunately, they did not inform the police about the incident.
The Haryana Police had on Sunday formed a special investigation team to probe the case.

The NCW has issued notices to Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav and BKU Ekta Ugrahan president Joginder Singh Ugrahan over reports of sexual assault on a 26-year-old woman activist at the Tikri border protest site, the women rights panel said on Tuesday.
“The National Commission for Women has come across media reports of the sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman at Tikri border, Haryana. It is being alleged that Yogendra Yadav and other protesters of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha were aware of the sexual assault committed upon the girl but unfortunately, they did not inform the police about the incident.

ROHTAK/BATHINDA: In a first incident of its kind at the farmers’ protest site, the Haryana Police on Sunday night booked six persons for gang rape and abduction of a 25-yearold activist at Tikri border.
The accused, identified as Anil Malik, Anup Singh, Ankush Sangwan and Jagdish Brar along with two women, had pitched tents at Tikri border under the banner of Kisan Social Army and have been booked under sections 365, 342, 376-D, 506, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the details in the FIR, a delegation of farmers, including the accused, had held a public meeting in Hooghly, Bengal, on April 1. The victim, an artist and designer, had come in contact with them and she convinced her parents to allow her to go to a protest site in Delhi to support the farmers.

Activist Yogendra Yadav, who is currently linked with the farmers agitation, on Monday dismissed reports that Samyukta Kisan Morcha leaders were aware of the sexual assault on a female protester at the Tikri border protest site.
