The King s Beautiful Garden - Outdoors

Wednesday 21 July 10.15-11.00am & 12.00-12.45pm Dublin City Council  is delighted to present our developmental Early Years Arts programme in partnership with The Ark. Over the summer, children aged 2-4 and their families will enjoy a feast of visual arts, drama and storytelling and dance. Outdoor Early Years Drama & Storytelling Workshop  with Joanna Parkes, in partnership with The Ark. Combining drama, story, play and props, this interactive drama workshop invites little ones and their grown-ups to enjoy imagining together, led by Joanna Parkes. Children will meet a king who loves spending time in his gorgeous garden.  One day he learns that other kings have wardrobes full of shiny cloaks and crowns. Soon he has lots of dazzling cloaks of many colours but what about the garden? He has no money left to look after his garden, the flowers are dying and the bees have gone. Maybe you can make the King see sense and save his garden before it’s too late!

Dilly-dally Tortoise and Hurried Hare

Early Years Drama & Storytelling workshop with Joanna Parkes, in partnership with The Ark. Hurried Hare is always in a rush – running around quickly and doing everything really fast. Dilly-dally Tortoise likes to do things slowly and carefully. Using the well-known Aesop’s Fable of The Tortoise and the Hare as a starting point, have fun exploring what things you should do slowly, and when it might be a good idea to speed things up. Maybe Tortoise can even help Hare to realise that sometimes it’s good to simply slow down.  Combining drama, story and play, this interactive online drama workshop invites little ones and their grown-ups to enjoy imagining together. Suitable for children age 2-4 years.

Buzz of excitement at Creative Limerick school

Buzz of excitement at Creative Limerick school Reporter: );   ); STUDENTS of a city centre school are showing their creativity as part of a special week. St Michael’s National School at Barrington Street was granted funding from the Arts Council as part of the Creative Schools Initiative in 2020. To mark Creative Schools Week 2021, which concluded on Friday, there were various activities for pupils to enjoy. On the agenda was a dance class held via internet meetings tool Zoom led by Anglie Smalis, a contemporary dance artist and parent of children in the school. As the week went on, the children engaged with the Music Generation programme in Limerick which is also being facilitated online this year. Among other things, children learned how to hand jive!
