You Thought The Paisano Exit Was Scary? Welcome to This Nightmare
The Juarez port of entry bridge has finally been completed. It opened up for use a couple of weeks ago and while I m sure it helps for those traveling to Juarez- for those of us who wish to stay on this side of the border, it just created another heart attack waiting to happen.
The port of entry connects the Patriot Freeway to the Paisano entrance of the International Bridge of the Americas. However, when driving from the Patriot freeway to get onto I-10 East, if you re not in the right lane you may end up in Juarez!
capirotada is, let me enlighten you. It s basically a bread pudding. It s toasted
bolillo bread, a syrup that s made of
piloncillo, which is brown sugar cane! It s got cinnamon, vanilla and topped with peanuts, pecans, raisins, shredded coconut, sprinkles and some shredded cheese. It s all baked together making your house smell like the inside of the Pillsbury Doughboy s armpit or, alternatively, it smells like a
panaderia gone wild.
It s also extremely sweet! Granted, I m not a sweets person. Seriously, if you don t get diabetes after eating this bread pudding, you lived to die another day. My mom, of course, made some for today s Lent dinner.
