JOLIET, IL Monday marked the final time that Mike Turk was introduced as a member of the Joliet City Council. Turk had 34 years representing the citizens of Joliet, but he chose not to seek a ninth term of office in the April 6 elections.
At Monday s meeting, the Council read a proclamation thanking Turk for serving on the Joliet City Council since winning office for the first time in 1987. He had previously served on the Joliet Park Board.

JOLIET, IL Many communities take a lot of pride in their entrance gateways. Joliet has a large digital billboard along West Jefferson Street welcoming eastbound motorists to the city. However, one of the first businesses people see upon entering Joliet is the Citgo station at Airport Drive.
It s shutdown. And it s remained that way for many months now.
A sign on the door proclaims that the city of Joliet s business license services has suspended the gas station from operating.

JOLIET, IL Police are investigating potential financial improprieties by a former Joliet Park District employee, the district confirmed in a statement Thursday night. On Friday morning, the Will County Forest Preserve District announced that Matt Pehle has now been placed on administrative leave.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Pehle was the director of finance at the Joliet Park District from April 2013 until he left in December 2019. In January 2020, Pehle became the chief financial officer for the Will County Forest Preserve District. At that time, Pehle replaced John Gerl as chief financial officer after Gerl retired from the forest preserve.

BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – For those looking to get outside, and giving fishing a try, there may be some luck.
Twice a year, the Department of Natural Resources offers a free fishing weekend.
On the waters of Green Bay just off Joliet Park, Mark Vaughan is trying his luck at whitefish.
“Absolutely nothing. Really. Not good news by all means. There were a few other people out here this morning. They’ve left.”
Vaughan is one of about 1.25 million licensed anglers fishing throughout the state each year. The DNR is offering a chance try the sport during the winter free fishing weekend on Saturday, Jan. 16, and Sunday, Jan. 17.
